NGK Iridium IX plugs use an extremely thin center electrode made of iridium alloy, which creates a strong electric field and dramatically improves discharge characteristics. Outstanding combustion efficiency and increased acceleration.
This high-performance plug spreads flames faster and has less energy loss (flame suppression) than ordinary plugs. It is resistant to smoldering and has improved resistance to contamination. The tip of the insulator is designed with a thermo-edge that generates micro-discharges. The carbon that builds up on the insulator during long periods of low-speed driving is burned off by micro-discharges, maintaining the plug's ignition performance at a high level at all times.
