[Scoop] NEW TRIUMPH Daytona 765 news leak!!

Motorcycle & Industry

The name of super sports “Daytona” will be resurrected from the TRIUMPH, which is an engine supplier of Moto2 from the 2019 season, on the market. It was scooped at the end of the testing of the motorcycle, although rumors of the appearance of a commercial motorcycle did not go away after the prototype of the engine used in Moto2 in 2017 was announced.

New stimulus for upper middle class

Let’s introduce this new Daytona 765 (temporary name) based on the information brought with the scoop picture. In recent years, the market of super sports has continued to decrease, giving the impression that expensive sports bikes such as BMW S1000RR, YAMAHA YZF-R1, DUCATI Panigale V4 and so on have a future. However, 600 to 800 categories are booming, such as YAMAHA YZF-R6, KAWASAKI Ninja ZX-6R, and HONDA debut the latest CBR650R.

TRIUMPH will supply the engine to Moto 2 from the 2019 season, but prior to that it announced the street triple base engine development prototype in September 2017, many sports bike fans expected this engine development project will revive Daytona.

And this scooped picture suggests that TRIUMPH is really working on reviving its super sports. According to the information, this is still an early prototype, not a final design, but fairing will be completely rebuilt at the time of product announcement. However, looking at the technical aspect, mostly part of frame and swingarm seems not to change significantly from the previous Daytona 675.

The most important change is the engine, which is based on the Street Triple RS 765 power unit. It will take over the modification made in making the Moto2 engine, such as the new cylinder head, titanium valve, increasing maximum rpm, weight reduction of the entire engine. As the exhaust system currently seems to be the Moto2 version itself, this should change until commercial vehicles are announced.

Looking the under part of prototype photo, the front fork is Ohlins NIX30, and the caliper seems to be delivered by Brembo Stylema which is also attached to DUCATI Panigale V4. In addition, it is expected to be equipped with electronics such as 6-axis IMU, Cornering ABS, TFT Liquid Crystal Panel, Quick Shifter.

TRIUMPH has not commented on this subject, and we can not confirm the timing of presenting the motorcycle yet. Nonetheless, considering the state of this prototype, it will not be announced until 2020.
