Following 250, test drive also to the youngest brother of the series. It is the brother’s only SOHC single cylinder to be mounted on 250 common chassis. ABS also standard equipment! * Young machine From the August issue of 2018 (released on June 23)
•Engines that grow cheerfully, there is fun to turn!
Half of the CB 250 R introduced in the previous article as well as displacement and maximum output. It is the CB 125 R that mounts such a water-cooled SOHC 2 valve single cylinder in a common chassis. Judging from the spec, it seemed that ineffectiveness was conspicuous, but when you run it, its prediction is betrayed in a good way. The youngest brother of the series equipped with ABS as standard equipment is 17 kg lighter than 250. Although the low revolution zone is not a feeling of torqueful indeed, it can go along with the surrounding flow without actively turning, and the stretching feeling when opening the throttle is sharp equal or more than 250. The connection of each gear is also good, and it responds to the feeling of rider with the scene that you want to act positively.
• Broad handling of pocket based on 250
Next on handling. Although direction is the same with 250, the sense that you can freely manipulate with throttle on / off is thin as much as the engine is not powerful. Nonetheless, the pleasure of the small displacement volume of how to keep the turning speed is there and there is enough pocket to respond when doing such advanced maneuvering. There is a margin to have the brake in common with 250, and absolute braking power is also high in combination with φ 41 mm inverted type F fork.
[×] I feel that the narrower the tire was better
Although falling down and turning back are not necessarily heavy, if you reduce the size of the tires 1 to 2 in both the front and the back, you feel that the feeling of lightness stands out more.
[Conclusion] Currently rare full size Hara, overdue Duke
From the personality of full-sized lightweight sports, is the direct rival per 125 Duke of KTM? Personally I like the CB 150 R who tried this test in the March issue, but 125 is also attractive given the overall costs such as Family Bypass.
