When it responded to SR exhaust gas regulation that dropped the catalog, SR400 has gained new strength of reviving and challenged for further refinement. *Young machine From the December issue of 2018 (released on October 24)
A desirable new model to choose that has worth more than corresponding regulation.
“Do not change, keep staying.” If it is the existence value of SR 400 which it debuted in ’78, there is no such a remarkable model change. The new model conformed to the strict Third Exhaust Emission Regulation by installing a canister and increasing the accuracy of FI, etc.
Certainly the canister stands out a bit around the side of the exhaust pipe. But SR is SR. In the engine specs it is 2 tons down, but it is not like a staggering difference.
When comparing with old and new at the same time, the conventional type is slightly strong in the low speed region, such as when starting, but there is no big difference.
The new model has a smooth engine, and it feels good in the middle to high speed range. Handling is neither neutral nor new and old, the difference is hardly felt. And, as usual, the kickstart which is “the ritual” as usual is alive. The fact that air cooling fins wanting to say modeling beauty are protected and exhaust sound is tuned. I want to rejoice that the bass sounds to resonate.
As environmental regulations become more severe and the market shrinks, it is really hard to keep one model alive. Yamaha’s conscience is SR 400. I would like to pick up a new model that stretched my chest and cleared regulations.
