[YZF-R125] The most popular 125cc so far
This new R125 is the third generation and almost all of it has been revamped. Nothing would have imagined Yamaha announcing the first YZF-R125 in 2008 that this one-eight liter machine would be so successful. It seems that all 16 years old people seems to want this machine. Super sports for young people has often become the best seller of Yamaha history. Especially in Germany, England, Italy, Spain, France, and Norway, it is very popular.
It’s been 10 years since the first model appeared, now the third generation of 125cc is in the starting block. YAMAHA public relations man in Europe said, “This product is premium,” he told Yamaha how seriously he was working on the model change of this machine and how thoroughly approached the project.
It gives a rough overview of the machine and features an engine that generates a legal maximum output of 15ps, a MotoGP-like appearance and more modern design, lighter and more accurate handling. In addition, it is realizing comfort and user friendliness in that area while attaining a high top speed. To achieve these ambitious goals, everything is new, from the engine to the frame and to the chassis.

However, the most important thing is the engine, especially the Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) which switches between two different cam profiles at 7400 rpm, may be said to be the biggest topic of model change this time. In addition, the cylinder head is new, and it has a large diameter short exhaust / exhaust valve. Although the compression ratio is the same as that of the conventional type, the combustion chamber is small, and better combustion efficiency is pursued. By combining a new fuel injection system with a significantly expanded air box, the torque of the single engine is optimized and the response when opening the throttle wide is soft.
However, regardless of whether the engine is clearly smoother than the conventional type, basically it is difficult to explain this properly if you are maneuvering to throttle 15 horsepower with full throttle. However, the new R125 does not have to switch modes (in the brain of the rider). The conventional type had to keep up from 7000rpm, but the new model accelerated neatly from this point. Unfortunately we can not feel the switching of VVA (it is not very noticeable) but instead the cockpit has a VVA display and you can visually see the changeover of valve control.
