Hi, this is Kenny Hi, this is Kenny Sagawa, I’m a motorcycle Journalist.
This time, I will introduce you “Street Twin” of Triumph.

This model would be the entry model in “Bonneville series” which has been full model changed in 2016.
There is the motorcycle called “T100” that the same engine is installed as Street Twin has. T100 is finished as a traditional motorcycle look.
On the other hand, Street Twin is finished in a modern and sporty look.
The tank is made compactly, the looks from the tank to the seat has become more contemporary design.
It looks lighter than T100.
Although it seems simple at first glance, cooling fins are designed in it even the engine is water cooled type.

The crankcase and the mission are also designed separately just like the old style.
This engine has presence.
The round headlight with a retro feeling rim and headlight stay suits on this motorcycle very well.
You can see that the elements of classical design throughout this motorcycle, such as the injection is made look like a carburetor specification.
The stainless made twin silencer megaphone exhaust is installed both left and right side and it makes a symmetrical beauty.
By bending them up, it becomes a sporty design.
In that sense, I think that Street Twin is not a neo-classical but a retro sports that arranges tradition in contemporary style.

The type of the engine is water-cooled parallel two-cylinder, 900cc.
This motorcycle is close to the 1000cc class, but it is a middle class on a motorcycle rank.
It is also characterized by its slimness and compactness, which seems to be a 400cc class at first glance.
But once I start riding, it is the picture of big motorcycle.
The peak power is 55 hp which is modest, but I think it’s faster than the specification at low and medium speed output characteristics.
It can be said that this engine is for everyday use, such as signal waiting and acceleration overtaking.
It is an engine with style that makes you feel the beat one by one.
In the air-cooled Bonneville of the previous generation, the engine used to rotate smoothly at a crankshaft angle of 360 degrees.
However, I could not feel the beat strongly.
Compare to that, the latest water-cooled Bonneville series explode at unequal interval in 270 degree, so that I can feel the sense of the beat clearly.
I can enjoy riding with this beat.
I think that is so vertical twin that leads to Triumph motorcycles in the 60’s.
Let’s check the riding position.
The tank is very slim.
I can easily maintain knee grip.
Both handle width and the body is narrow and slim, so it seems easy to slip through in between the cars.

The mobility seems to be good.
The handle position is close.
The step is just under the sitting position, so it is comfortable.
I can keep a natural, upright position.
The seat height is 750 mm, which is quite low.
My feet can touch the ground easily.
The front rim diameter is 18 inches so that handling ability is a mild feeling.
There is a sense of stability and it feels good.
On the highway, there is a stability for straight running, and I can feel secure.
I think that this motorcycle is easy to maneuver for those return riders and people who are not get used to ride with large motorcycle.
Although it looks petite and delicate, the frame is solid.
Therefore, I can feel stability even when I ride on the undulation of the road surface and the gap.
For this motorcycle, brakes by Nissin and suspensions for front and rear by Kayaba are installed.
I think that those suspensions and brakes suit this motorcycle nicely.
I think this is a balanced motorcycle.
Therefore, I can relax and hard to get tired because I can keep comfortable riding position during riding.

Orthodox design is also well suited to city street corners of the city.
I think that any situation can be fit in.
Because it is straightforward maneuverability, easy-to-use size feeling, I think it would be easy to replace from Japanese models without any uncomfortable feelings.
I can recommend this motorcycle for both return riders and beginners of big motorcycle.
